Spectrum's Coronavirus Blacklist Filter

Since our platform monitors content consumption, we have seen a huge spike in COVID-19 content, adding white noise of unrelated topics.


As an optimization technique, we can blacklist “Coronavirus” and “COVID-19” from Content Targets to improve relevancy. This blacklist filter is designed to prevent that content from overrunning segments. Since our topic engine does this at the page-level and understands the context of the page, we are still running ads on premium sites available to us while avoiding negative articles about the Coronavirus.
